The pure and simple fact of the matter? After more than 25 years, Dolly Parton has a Billboard No. 1 album, Pure & Simple.
The Tennessee songstress topped the charts for the first time since her album Eagle When She Flies peaked at No. 1 in May 1991.
According to Nielsen, Pure & Simple sold 20,000 copies in its first week, which was good enough to beat out new albums by Casey Donahew (No. 3) and Drake White (No. 4).
“I call Pure & Simple my Love of Many Colors album,” said Dolly to Nash Country Daily. “Every song kind of relates to love in one way or another. It was fun to write and it was easy to write. It’s pure and simple in the productions and in the story lines—so nothing complicated. But hopefully it’s good, I hope you’ll agree.”
