It’s a huge deal for anyone to grab this honor. Katherine Watkins is an English teacher and didn’t suspect a thing when teachers were given notice for a school assembly. She lined up her kids, took them to the gym, and waited to hear what the gathering was about. Katherine was shocked when the Education Commissioner announced her has a Milken Educator Award winner for her outstanding work in the classroom. That title comes along with $25,000 dollars! Truly that had to be such a shock to Katherine, and she’s already said a lot of the $25,000 will be re-invested in her school and towards her classroom!
