Josh Turner Rises to the Top of the Billboard Chart With New Album, “Deep South”

It’s been almost five years since Josh Turner released his 2012 album, Punching Bag, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

With his new album, Deep South, which dropped on March 10, Josh is back in familiar territory—at the top of the charts. Deep South debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart this week.

“I didn’t want to wait this long to put a record out, but I’ve tried to enjoy the time that I’ve had since Punching Bag,” said Josh to Nash Country Daily. “I’ve learned a lot. I’ve grown a lot. I’ve been through a lot of tough times, but I’ve lived a lot of life and had some good things happen too. I’ve just tried to put all of that into this record, and so hopefully the fans will love what they hear.”

But Josh’s good news doesn’t stop with a No. 1 album. Deep South‘s current single, “Hometown Girl,” cracked the Top 10 on the Mediabase chart for the first time this week.

“I feel like ‘Hometown Girl’ kind of basically speaks to my female fan base,” said Josh. “I’m seeing that every night that I play it. The girls just love it. For guys, I think that’s the kind of girl that they’re looking for or either they already have one or at least they hope they do.”
