I am going to reveal a little about myself, I am adopted. I think that’s what has drawn me to Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren. They have spent the last year trying adopt their daughter Willa Gray (named after Lauren’s brother, Grayson) Adoption isn’t an easy thing to go through and I know my parents when they adopted me, MANY years ago, it was much easier than it is today.
Lauren spent many summers on mission trips in Uganda and fell in love with the people and culture when the opportunity arose to adopt a child, they went for it and it paid off, in so many ways. I don’t think anyone can fully prepare you for the journey of adopting someone, especially from a third-world country where there are so many different laws, says Thomas Rhett.
Thomas Rhett and wife Lauren have had a busy year, with touring and their family has doubled in size in three months. The couple adopted daughter, Willa Gray, 21 months, from Uganda in May, and Lauren gave birth to daughter Ada James on Aug. 12.
Thomas Rhett plays tonight at Verizon Amphitheater and I will be yelling and clapping a little extra loud, because of the gift of life they have given to a child, who now has her dreams in front of her.
