Turns out Miranda Lambert’s divorce from Blake Shelton played out just like a country song. She hung out in bars, drank too much, and then felt bad about it.

That’s exactly what inspired her song “Ugly Lights,” which is one of the tracks on “The Weight of These Wings.” She recently opened up about it on stage.

She told the crowd, “I got divorced so I started drinking a little extra. Anyway, I found myself in Midtown in Nashville three nights in a row at last call and with the lights coming on, and I’d be sitting there. So I wrote a song about it.”
