In the interest of full disclosure, I was a Jana Kramer fan before she became a country singer. Yes, I am a lover of One Tree Hill; wanted to be a resident of the town with more death, drama, and disaster than any little city should experience; and thought Alex Dupre was a great addition to the storyline — once she stopped trying to get with Brooke Davis’ man.
With that being said, when Kramer shared that she would be dancing to Gavin DeGraw’s “I Don’t Wanna Be,” the theme song to my beloved series, on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars last night, I was slightly ecstatic. However, word on the street was that Kramer had injured herself during rehearsals and was experiencing a great deal of pain.
Would she dance well? Would she dance at all? The answer to both of these questions is “yes.”
Kramer, being the definition of “trouper,” came out, danced like she hadn’t severely hurt the muscles in her ribcage, and shocked the audience and judges with her tenacity to push through the adversity. Nearly breaking into tears when judge Carrie Ann Inabapointed out her ability to compartmentalize the agony for the minute and a half, Kramer handled herself with grace and class, and danced circles around her competitors as she tangoed her way to 29 out of 40 points.
