Song Review: Adam Craig’s “Reckon”

adam2

With a powerful voice that recalls the heyday of 90’s country music and a clever way of turning a phrase, Adam Craig is poised to breathe new life into the genre. This is evident on his Stoney Creek debut single “Reckon,” which combines clever lyrics with a catchy hook. His voice is truly an instrument, inspired by the likes of Travis Tritt andTim McGraw, and stronger than most of the seasoned veterans in country music.

“She’s wrecking me / For wrecking her heart / Yeah reckon she’s / Chasing down a brand new start,” Craig sings on the song’s cleverly composed chorus. “Reckon she’s missing me, reckon she’ll forgive me, reckon she’s gonna stay / Reckon she’ll come back someday.”

While Craig may be a new artist, recently signed to BBR’s Stoney Creek Records, he’s no stranger to the Nashville community. Craig is already a celebrated songwriter, having penned tracks for Parmalee “Close Your Eyes,” Jason Aldean (“Church Pew or Bar Stool”), Dustin Lynch (“World to Me”) and Love & Theft (“Whiskey on My Breath”).

While some songs shine vocally and some shine musically and others shine lyrically, “Reckon” just shines. We “Reckon” Adam Craig has a hit on his hands.
